This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Localize in-game text, user interfaces, dialogues, subtitles, and narrative content for designated languages while preserving tone, style, and context.
• Ensure content is culturally relevant and sensitive by making appropriate adaptations for regional audiences.
• Review and edit localized materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high quality.
• Assist in the upkeep of glossaries, style guides, and terminology databases.
• Collaborate with localization QA teams to identify and rectify linguistic bugs within the game.
• Offer feedback on localization processes and recommend enhancements for improved efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate efforts with language teams.
• Native-level proficiency in the target language.
• A degree in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR
• A degree in another field accompanied by 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR
• 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.
• Over 3 years of proven experience in localizing game video content.
• Comprehensive and practical knowledge of the subtleties and considerations involved in translating diverse types of gaming content.
• Experience in transcreation specifically within the gaming industry, including translating NBA-related content for video games.
• Familiarity with game engines and localization workflows.
• Understanding of scripting formats (e.g., XML, JSON) is advantageous.
• A passion for video games, particularly in sports, action, or narrative-driven genres.
