HV Substation Commissioning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Conduct testing and commissioning of HV and LV substation equipment to adhere to project timelines and budget constraints.

• Oversee risk assessments and method statements while upholding stringent site safety protocols.

• Lead commissioning teams on-site, offering technical guidance, training, and mentorship.

• Develop technical documentation, comprising test records, reports, and tracking of non-conformances.

• Collaborate with project stakeholders to address and resolve technical inquiries.

• Manage resources allocated for site-based commissioning activities.

• Execute fault-finding on protection schemes.

• Integrate third-party Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs).

• Ensure that high-voltage substation projects are tested, commissioned, and integrated in a safe manner, complying with regulatory and quality standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in testing and commissioning HV power system equipment within generation, transmission, or distribution settings.

• Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting intricate protection schemes and substation automation systems.

• Solid understanding of IEC61850, Modbus, and IEC 104 communication protocols.

• Expertise in utilizing industry-standard testing equipment such as Omicron, Sverker, or Megger.

• Willingness to travel extensively for projects and field assignments both in the UK and internationally.

• Flexibility to work during holidays, weekends, and overtime as necessary.

• Capability to spend significant time away from home for training and field assignments.

• A formal education with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
