This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Collaborating with designated leaders and business units to offer practical HR advice and support for employee relations.
• Engaging in regular travel to ensure a suitable onsite presence and assistance for all CA education program locations.
• Managing mid-level to complex employee relations issues, including manager coaching, performance management, conflict resolution, recurring problems, multi-step concerns, workplace investigations, or matters with significant operational impact.
• Advising managers on performance-related issues, corrective actions, documentation, communication, accountability, and best practices in employee relations.
• Conducting or assisting with workplace investigations, which includes planning, interviewing, documentation, findings support, and recommending subsequent actions.
• Offering guidance on ADA/accommodation issues, policy implementation, corrective actions, performance management, employee concerns, and workplace behavior.
• Identifying trends in employee relations and operational people issues, and suggesting practical solutions to relevant leaders and HR management.
• Supporting initiatives related to employee experience, engagement, retention, culture, and manager capabilities for assigned business units.
• Partnering with leaders on organizational changes, workforce transitions, new site support, restructuring assistance, and other people-related operational requirements.
• Working in conjunction with HR Centers of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Payroll, HRIS, Compliance, Training, and Legal to provide consistent and integrated HR solutions.
• Assisting in the implementation of HR initiatives, policy rollouts, manager training, and employee communications.
• Monitoring HR metrics, trends in employee relations, turnover patterns, and manager support needs for designated areas.
• Escalating high-risk, legally sensitive, executive-level, enterprise-impact, or complex issues that require the involvement of senior HR, Legal, CHRO, or VP.
• Performing additional duties as assigned to support the HR department and organizational goals.
• High school diploma or equivalent with successful completion of a basic skills assessment.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Currently licensed or in the process of obtaining SHRM-CP, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or another HR-related certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a valid CA state driver's license.
• A minimum of five to seven years of progressive HR experience is required, including employee relations, investigations, performance management, corrective actions, ADA/accommodation processes, manager coaching, and policy application.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant CA state licensure, certification, accreditation laws, and employment regulations.
• Prior experience supporting multi-site or multi-state operations is highly preferred.
• Previous experience in education, healthcare, behavioral health, and/or another compliance-driven environment is preferred.
• Strong skills in business partnership, employee relations, manager coaching, investigation, documentation, communication, and problem-solving.
• Ability to influence managers, identify trends, recommend practical solutions, and appropriately escalate high-risk matters.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and capacity to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to assess complex employee relations issues, evaluate risks, identify appropriate next steps, coach managers, recommend practical solutions, and determine when escalation to senior HR, Legal, CHRO, or executives is necessary.
• Experience with HRIS, case management systems, reporting tools, dashboards, and/or other HR-related technologies is preferred.
• Proficient in relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
