This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide support for the administration and daily operational functions of Guardian operating systems on HPE NonStop platforms under the supervision of a Host Systems Engineer II.
• Aid in the administration and upkeep of AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems, which includes conducting basic system checks, monitoring, and executing routine operational tasks.
• Support InterSystems Caché and IRIS environments by executing basic operational duties, monitoring system status, and escalating issues as necessary.
• Address system alerts and incidents by carrying out initial troubleshooting and adhering to documented procedures; escalate more complex issues to senior personnel when needed.
• Oversee system performance, availability, and security events utilizing established monitoring tools.
• Engage in scheduled maintenance activities, including patching and updates, while following documented change procedures.
• Log, track, update, and resolve service requests and incidents using the enterprise ticketing system in line with SLA expectations.
• Adhere to established system configurations, standards, and architectural guidelines; assist in documentation updates as directed.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures for operational tasks.
• Assist with infrastructure projects and initiatives by performing assigned tasks, testing, documentation, and validation activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors as directed to facilitate daily operations and project activities.
• Maintain a foundational awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements pertinent to system operations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with guidance and support from senior engineering staff.
• Execute additional job-related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a comparable combination of education, certifications, and relevant hands-on experience.
• Over 5 years of experience supporting enterprise server environments in systems administration, infrastructure operations, or similar IT roles.
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as IBM Power or HPE NonStop systems is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems; familiarity with AIX or Guardian OS is an advantage.
• Basic exposure to or general knowledge of InterSystems Cache or IRIS databases is desirable.
• Foundational understanding of backup, recovery, monitoring, and availability concepts in enterprise or production environments.
• Experience using ticketing and incident management systems to support infrastructure operations and service requests.
• Basic comprehension of system security principles, access controls, and operational best practices in regulated environments.
• Capability to troubleshoot and resolve common infrastructure issues by following documented procedures and escalating complex problems as necessary.
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new platforms, tools, and processes in a mission-critical, high-availability environment.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, operations staff, and business stakeholders.
