This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Act as the main support contact for the Health System encompassing 8 Acute Care Hospitals, all Baptist Outpatient Services, and various ambulatory surgical centers.
• Address inquiries from former patients, physicians, hospital personnel, and other requestors seeking health information.
• Safeguard the confidentiality of patients’ protected health information.
• Conduct quality assessment reviews on the release of health information to ensure proper, complete, and accurate disclosure.
• Verify all necessary components of incoming requests.
• Handle phone inquiries and provide information in accordance with hospital policies regarding the Disclosure of Medical Record Information, as well as State and Federal laws, HIPAA, and Information Blocking regulations.
• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Collaborate with a team to achieve goals related to the release of protected health information and departmental objectives.
• Travel to various locations for depositions or court hearings.
• High School diploma, Certificate, GED, Training, or Experience.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in record release and/or an acute care environment within a large healthcare organization is required.
• An Associate’s degree in health information management is preferred.
• Certifications such as Record Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Health Services Administration are preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical chart formats, and computer literacy is essential.
• Capacity to thrive in a customer service-focused environment with significant telephone interaction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with both internal and external customers.
• Proficient in computer applications (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive demeanor and delivering exceptional customer service.
• Capability to multitask and work autonomously to complete assignments within the parameters of given instructions, established routines, and recognized best practices.
• Must be detail-oriented and a high-volume performer with outstanding organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel to various sites for depositions or court hearings.
