This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Act as a key support resource for the Health System, which includes 8 Acute Care Hospitals, all Baptist Outpatient Services, and ambulatory surgical centers.
• Address inquiries from former patients, healthcare professionals, hospital personnel, and other stakeholders for health information.
• Maintain the confidentiality of patients’ protected health information.
• Conduct quality assessment reviews on the release of health information to ensure proper, complete, and accurate disclosures.
• Verify all necessary components of received requests.
• Respond to phone inquiries and provide information in line with hospital policies on the Disclosure of Medical Record Information, as well as comply with state and federal laws, HIPAA, and Information Blocking regulations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve goals related to the release of protected health information and departmental objectives.
• High School diploma, Certification, GED, Training, or relevant Experience.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in record release and/or in an acute care environment within a large healthcare organization is required.
• An Associate’s degree in health information management is preferred.
• Preferred certifications include Record Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Health Services Administration.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical chart formats, and computer skills is essential.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment with substantial telephone interaction.
• Superior verbal and written communication abilities, including effective interactions with both internal and external customers.
• Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive demeanor and delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to multitask and work autonomously to complete assignments within the guidelines of provided instructions, established routines, and accepted standards.
• Attention to detail is crucial, coupled with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to perform in a high-volume setting.
• Willingness to travel to various locations for depositions or court hearings.
