This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
β’ Acts as a key support resource for the Health System, which includes 8 Acute Care Hospitals, all Baptist Outpatient Services (over 50 locations), and various ambulatory surgical centers.
β’ Addresses inquiries from former patients, physicians, hospital personnel, and other requestors regarding health information while ensuring the confidentiality of patients' protected health information.
β’ Conducts quality assessment reviews on the release of health information to ensure proper, complete, and accurate disclosures by thoroughly verifying all required components of requests received.
β’ Handles phone inquiries and provides information in compliance with hospital policies on Disclosure of Medical Record Information, as well as State and Federal laws, HIPAA, and Information Blocking regulations, while delivering outstanding customer service.
β’ Collaborates with the team to achieve goals related to the release of protected health information and departmental objectives.
β’ Minimum of 3 years of experience in record release and/or an acute care environment within a large healthcare organization is required.
β’ An Associateβs degree in health information management is preferred.
β’ Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Health Services Administration is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical chart formats, and computer skills is essential.
β’ Ability to thrive in a highly-focused, customer service-oriented environment with substantial telephone interaction experience.
β’ Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to effectively engage with both internal and external customers.
β’ Proficient in computer applications (MS Office β Word, Excel, and Outlook).
β’ Must be able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive demeanor and providing excellent customer service.
β’ Ability to multitask and work independently to complete assignments according to given instructions, established routines, and accepted standards.
β’ Must possess attention to detail and demonstrate high-volume performance along with exceptional organizational skills.
β’ Requires travel to various locations for depositions or court hearings.
