This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Act as the main support resource for the health system, which includes 8 acute care hospitals, Baptist outpatient services, and ambulatory surgical centers.
• Address inquiries from former patients, physicians, hospital personnel, and other stakeholders regarding health information.
• Maintain the confidentiality of patients’ protected health information.
• Conduct quality assessment reviews on the release of health information to ensure proper, complete, and accurate disclosures.
• Verify all necessary components of received requests.
• Respond to phone calls and provide information in alignment with hospital disclosure policies, state and federal laws, HIPAA, and Information Blocking regulations.
• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Collaborate with a team to achieve the release of protected health information and departmental objectives.
• High School diploma, Certification, GED, Training, or Experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in record release and/or an acute care environment within a large healthcare organization is required.
• An Associate’s degree in health information management is preferred.
• Certifications such as Record Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Health Services Administration are preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical chart formats, and computer skills.
• Capacity to work in a highly-focused, customer service-oriented environment with extensive telephone experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with both internal and external customers.
• High level of computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive demeanor and providing exceptional customer service.
• Skill in multitasking and working independently to complete assignments within the guidelines of given instructions, established routines, and standard practices.
• Must demonstrate attention to detail and be a high-volume performer with outstanding organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel to different locations for depositions or court hearings.
