This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Analyze and determine documentation requirements based on the services offered and coding inquiries.
• Categorize clinical documentation for tests, treatments, procedures, and additional services.
• Assign, edit, and monitor medical record deficiencies by the responsible provider within the chart management system.
• Review, upload, and process Health Maintenance results along with Advance Care Planning Directives into Epic.
• Examine clinical documentation for indications of Diabetic Retinopathy and extract components for Health Maintenance initiatives.
• Execute HIM and coding support tasks in accordance with established metrics, KPIs, and turnaround times.
• Acquire and incorporate documentation from both internal and external sources to ensure accurate coding and billing.
• Identify and escalate front-end or system workflow concerns.
• Collaborate with department leaders, clinical informatics, IT, coding, and HIM Optimization to address issues.
• Validate deficiencies and chart completion status in the EHR for incomplete and overdue documentation reporting.
• Notify clinicians regarding incomplete documentation and update leadership about accountability measures.
• Verify presurgical H&Ps and other documents received through OnBase work queues and upload them into the EHR.
• Integrate clinical documentation from both electronic and paper sources into EHR work queues and direct it to clinicians.
• Coordinate support activities and deliver Epic Connect training and education during clinic transitions.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Generally requires 1 to 2 years of experience in the healthcare sector.
• Capability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision utilizing critical thinking skills.
• Skills in problem identification, problem-solving, and priority-setting.
• Proficient computer and typing skills.
• Ability to learn Epic, OnBase, Solarity, Microsoft Office, legacy archives, Teams, and electronic communication platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing tasks while maintaining quality and precision.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to protect confidential health information and possess a fundamental understanding of HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to operate all necessary equipment to fulfill the job responsibilities.
• Capacity to perform repetitive functions and hand movements in a typical office environment.
