This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Assess and determine documentation requirements based on the services rendered and coding inquiries.
• Categorize clinical documentation related to tests, treatments, procedures, and additional services.
• Allocate, modify, and monitor medical record deficiencies by the responsible provider within the chart management system.
• Examine, upload, and manage Health Maintenance results and Advance Care Planning Directives into Epic.
• Scrutinize clinical documentation for indications of Diabetic Retinopathy and extract components for Health Maintenance initiatives.
• Execute HIM and coding support functions while achieving metrics, key performance indicators, and turnaround times.
• Acquire and import documentation from both internal and external sources to ensure accurate coding and billing.
• Ensure adherence to organizational policies, Medical Staff Bylaws, as well as state and federal regulations.
• Recognize and escalate front-end or system workflow challenges.
• Collaborate with department leaders, clinical informatics, IT, coding, and HIM Optimization to address issues.
• Confirm deficiencies and chart completion status in the EHR for incomplete and overdue documentation reporting.
• Inform clinicians about incomplete documentation and update leadership regarding accountability measures.
• Verify presurgical H&Ps and other documents received through OnBase work queues and upload them to the EHR.
• Integrate clinical documentation from electronic and paper sources into EHR workflows and direct it appropriately.
• Coordinate support activities and deliver Epic training and education to Epic Connect clinics during the transition to Epic.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Generally requires 1 to 2 years of experience in the healthcare field.
• Capability to work independently and make decisions with minimal oversight using critical thinking.
• Skills in problem identification, problem-solving, and priority-setting.
• Proficient in computer and keyboarding skills.
• Ability to learn Epic, OnBase, Solarity, Microsoft Office, legacy archives, Teams, and other electronic platforms.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize workload and operate under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment.
• Adaptability to changing tasks while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to protect patient health information and possess basic knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Capability to operate necessary equipment and perform repetitive hand movements in an office setting.
