This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Deliver specific high school English course material in an online setting.
• Offer instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process.
• Customize learning experiences and differentiate instruction according to student mastery.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.
• Enhance course content utilizing approved online tools and procedures.
• Maintain the grade book and make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Track student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Prepare students for important standardized tests.
• Build positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and parents/learning coaches.
• Assist parents/learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data and leverage it for instructional decisions.
• Travel as necessary for professional development, student assessments, and school events.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Valid state teaching license.
• Ability to pass the required background check.
• If the current teaching certification is from another state, obtain West Virginia reciprocity within 60 days of employment.
• Capability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional home office without distractions during work hours.
• Preferred experience working with the designated age group.
• Experience assisting adults and children in using technology.
• Experience teaching in an online environment or in a traditional classroom setting.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with other educators.
• Willingness to receive regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
• Flexibility to adapt to changes and new technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
