This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and backhoes.
• Load, transport, and unload materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery.
• Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with supervisors.
• Ensure equipment cleanliness and maintain operational readiness.
• Adhere to all company safety standards and protocols.
• Assist with laborer duties on the track as necessary.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in operating heavy equipment.
• Experience with rail construction equipment is advantageous.
• Proficient in operating backhoes, loaders, and similar machinery.
• Willingness to travel and work out of town for extended durations.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on safety.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
• Ability to understand basic instructions and job site documentation.
• Fundamental math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Knowledge of laser/machine control and blueprint reading is a plus.
• Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and transport heavy materials and equipment.
• FRA certification is required when applicable.
• CDL is a plus.
