Health Information Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Ensure that coding specialists receive comprehensive training and remain informed about regulatory requirements impacting coding compliance and hospital reimbursement.

• Guarantee the quality, accuracy, and timely submission of coding data to state, federal, and hospital data repositories.

• Stay updated on the latest coding rules and guidelines.

• Act as a liaison between Patient Access and Patient Billing Services.

• Continuously assess the quality of coded data.

• Conduct monthly focused audits on all coders to maintain a 95% accuracy rate.

• Randomly audit a percentage of each coder's work every month to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Focus audits on DRGs based on outcomes to verify regulatory compliance.

• Ensure the timely submission of coded accounts that impact hospital reimbursement.

• Investigate outstanding accounts and ensure their resolution.

• Assign and oversee Educode modules.

• Train and orient new coders effectively.

• Assist with physician inquiries regarding documentation.

• Review monthly POA reports and generate individual and cumulative quality reports each month.

• Educate coders on LCDs, clinical coding guidelines, and other regulatory standards.

• Coordinate activities and lead teams without the need for supervision.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is mandatory for facility coding, or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) for professional coding.

• Certification as a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) is preferred.

• A minimum of 8 years of related experience is necessary.

• Proficiency in relevant software and computer/PC skills is essential.

• Advanced knowledge of coding practices is required.

• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are a must.

• Ability to analyze data and generate reports using Microsoft Office applications.
