Health Coach

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide coaching based on evidence to enhance members' metabolic health through nutrition and behavior change.

• Offer personalized coaching via chat and telephone communications.

• Assist members in understanding their nutrition, metabolic markers, and other health-related data.

• Foster member engagement, retention, long-term success, and sustainable behavioral changes.

• Employ motivational interviewing techniques and member-centered goal-setting strategies.

• Adhere to clinical workflows and meticulously document member interactions, outreach efforts, and progress updates.

• Collaborate with Virta Providers and other care team members to ensure safe and tailored care.

• Complete onboarding training and start managing Virta members, including conducting onboarding calls and overseeing daily care.

• Familiarize yourself with the platforms, tools, and KPIs utilized to execute and assess the role.

• Provide feedback to enhance team culture, learning initiatives, and process improvements.

• Engage with colleagues and embody Virta’s core values.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working directly with patients to develop plans and set goals, including in areas such as chronic condition or metabolic health coaching, nutrition counseling, motivational interviewing, community health, weight management or bariatric centers, health counseling, or mental health counseling.

• Experience in health coaching or completion of a recent coaching program, preferably accredited by NBHWC or ICF.

• Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or advanced degree in health, behavioral health, or a related discipline.

• Proficiency in safely and effectively utilizing digital platforms and AI-enabled tools for remote care.

• Skilled in texting, phone calls, video chats, instant messaging, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, along with strong typing abilities.

• Possess a high emotional intelligence (EQ) and empathy when interacting with diverse personalities during periods of change.

• Strong motivation, organizational capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Enthusiasm for working directly with members in the field of metabolic health as a primary care provider.

• Ability to engage in critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving.

• Excellent communication skills, able to convey information clearly, concisely, and empathetically across various modes and audiences.

• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, and support colleagues.

• Capacity to develop plans, establish goals, hold individuals accountable, link actions to outcomes, and modify strategies as necessary.

• Comfortable working under changing circumstances or with incomplete information.

• Spanish verbal and/or written fluency is required as per the application question.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Professional experience with type 2 diabetes, obesity, or other metabolic disorders is a plus.

• Experience with asynchronous and telephonic coaching is advantageous.

• Familiarity with ketogenic or low-carb nutrition is a plus.

• NBC-HWC or ICF certification is preferred.

• Must adhere to Virta's security and privacy protocols for handling HIPAA-regulated patient information.
