This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead and provide expertise in creating a thorough workplace health and safety program for community physicians.
• Design, implement, assess, and continually enhance health and safety management systems.
• Assist community clinics in managing workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; identify root causes and create corrective action plans.
• Foster a culture of health and safety that extends beyond mere regulatory compliance.
• Create or suggest tools and methods to assess, track, and evaluate progress and educational outcomes.
• Aid in the design and redesign of processes, systems, and tools.
• Develop and communicate health, safety, and prevention program metrics to community physicians, oversight committees, and external partners.
• Monitor performance indicators for safety and prevention programs, suggesting corrective actions to reduce risk.
• Supervise compliance with regulations, including investigations and responses to WorkSafeBC and other regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure operational plans align with SWITCH BC’s workplace strategic objectives.
• Keep abreast of provincial health and safety laws and regulatory updates, identifying necessary policy and procedure revisions.
• Provide both remote and in-person consultations to high-risk or support-needing community clinics.
• Represent SWITCH BC in external workplace health and safety forums and committees.
• Cultivate relationships with industry peers and regulatory organizations.
• Engage in change initiatives by offering information, training on the CPHS web portal, feedback, and suggestions for process improvements.
• Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned.
• Education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in occupational health or a relevant healthcare field.
• A minimum of five (5) years of recent experience in the development and implementation of occupational health and safety policies and strategies, change management, and quality improvement.
• Strong understanding of the BC health system, particularly in relation to community physicians, occupational health, safety, and well-being.
• Familiarity with Canadian Safety Association (CSA) Standards for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
• Proven commitment to change management, quality improvement, and excellence.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and formulate recommendations through facilitation and consensus building.
• Clinical reasoning and analytical skills, including statistical analysis and evaluation methodologies.
• Proficiency in applying conflict management skills and judgment to facilitate consensus, effectively persuade, and implement service changes and transitions.
• Must reside in British Columbia; only applicants living in BC will be considered for interviews.
• Travel within British Columbia to community physician clinics is necessary, approximately 2–3 times per month.
• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and/or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certifications are preferred.
• Experience in the healthcare sector is an asset.
