This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Oversee Taylor & Francis’s sales operations within a specified territory in China.
• Achieve revenue and profit goals, including the 2026 sales target, in alignment with the 3-year plan.
• Develop a 1–3 year business strategy along with tailored sales plans for the territory.
• Explore untapped markets, expand into new regions, increase market share, and optimize revenue.
• Drive strategic initiatives for scalable sales, business development, and market growth.
• Act as the company’s representative in external working groups and professional networks.
• Build and lead a high-achieving sales team.
• Monitor and assess sales performance, identify gaps, and implement data-driven enhancements.
• Establish and track sales KPIs, ensuring timely deal closures.
• Communicate sales progress and updates on the business environment to key stakeholders.
• Mentor sales colleagues, promoting high performance, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Manage team resources, conduct individual reviews, and foster development through delegation, coaching, and performance management.
• Cultivate relationships with institutions, market segments, government entities, and other stakeholders.
• Represent the organization in discussions, partnerships, and negotiations, especially for major deals.
• Acquire new accounts and strengthen existing relationships.
• Implement quality-improvement and sales-effectiveness initiatives in accordance with Six Sigma standards.
• Ensure sales operations are compliant and efficient, adhering to company timelines, trading, and terms policies.
• Utilize data and analytics for resource allocation and strategy execution.
• Undertake ad hoc tasks that support changing business requirements.
• Extensive experience in a sales environment (10+ years).
• In-depth knowledge of the academic publishing sector and academic content business models.
• A wide-ranging network within academic circles, including funders, distributors, and government agencies.
• Demonstrated success in managing high-pressure sales environments and meeting ambitious revenue objectives.
• Resilience and flexibility in adapting to business transformations.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in leveraging data for sales performance enhancement and strategic decision-making.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
• Strategic thinker with the capability to implement effective growth strategies in competitive markets.
• Proven experience in leading, motivating, and developing high-performing sales teams.
• Demonstrated results achieved through delegation, coaching, and performance management.
• Willingness to travel within the territory and to domestic and international conferences and book fairs.
• Native proficiency in Mandarin.
• Full professional proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills for both global and regional business operations.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with commercial and internal stakeholders.
• Must possess the right to work in China.
• Flexibility to travel to customers and Taylor & Francis offices in Shanghai or Beijing as required.
• Relocation support is not available.
