Head of Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Establish the vision, standards, and strategy for product design that aligns with Tilt’s strategic goals.

• Set and uphold the craft quality benchmark across all delivered product surfaces.

• Oversee, mentor, and nurture a team of 6 product designers and 1 researcher.

• Take ownership of the hiring process and develop career paths, feedback mechanisms, and team rituals.

• Present design work during company-wide events.

• Integrate design into problem definition and roadmap development.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional leadership on operational frameworks.

• Champion user advocacy through research, verbatim feedback, and evidence across credit, growth, engineering, and other departments.

• Develop Tilt’s research practice into a sustainable capability.

• Guide and expand the Tilt Design System, which includes illustrations, typography, colors, and copy.

• Identify and incorporate valuable AI and automation tools into design and delivery processes.

• Collaborate with the Marketing Creative team to ensure alignment between product experience and brand representation.

• Report directly to the Head of Product.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years in designing and delivering consumer-facing mobile products.

• Ideally, experience in fintech or another field with considerable complexity.

• At least 5 years of experience managing designers.

• Proven history of building teams, elevating craft standards, and mentoring designers.

• Experience in shaping roadmaps and strategies in partnership with Product and Engineering leaders.

• Strong interest in business mechanics and financial implications.

• Portfolio showcasing craft, user challenges, design choices, and business results.

• Evidence-based approach with an ability to navigate ambiguity comfortably.

• Capability to gather user insights without a dedicated research team.

• Proficient in articulating design arguments clearly at the executive level.

• Advanced skills in Figma.

• Keen interest in AI applications within design workflows.
