This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary design team encompassing product design, research, and content/UX writing.
• Facilitate the rituals, feedback culture, and career development paths that enable team members to excel in their work.
• Define the design vision and strategy for Kindred, ensuring alignment with the company's overall strategy while acting as a key thought partner to product, engineering, marketing, and operations.
• Advocate for member-focused thinking throughout the organization, basing decisions on both qualitative insights and quantitative data.
• Emphasize strategic growth design: activation, conversion, and the processes that transform members into advocates.
• Maintain high standards for the member experience, addressing both major innovations and the nuanced details that establish Kindred as a design-forward and reliable platform.
• Develop and enhance systems that facilitate rapid design delivery — including design systems, tools, rituals, and processes that remain effective as the team expands.
• Lead an AI-driven design practice: set benchmarks for how the team utilizes AI in prototyping, research synthesis, and production, while adapting workflows as technology evolves.
• Collaborate closely with marketing and brand teams to ensure that product and brand function cohesively, from acquisition through to the in-product experience.
• Possess over 12 years of experience in product design, including at least 5 years of leadership and management of design teams.
• Have experience managing across product design, research, and content/writing, with an understanding of how to strengthen these disciplines collectively.
• Demonstrate a successful history of collaboration with marketing and brand teams.
• Have extensive experience with design systems: their creation, scaling, and application to enhance both quality and speed.
• Have designed for trust in environments such as marketplaces, communities, or products where users take significant real-world risks.
• Be AI-savvy and possess insights into how AI transforms the nature and operations of design teams.
• Exhibit strong operational skills: implement efficient rituals, provide precise feedback, and cultivate teams that members are eager to remain a part of.
• Be a genuine player-coach who retains a passion for the craft and is willing to contribute directly when necessary.
