This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Develop a payments strategy and create the roadmap for 2026–2027 that aligns with the company's growth objectives.
• Design and oversee a portfolio strategy, which includes prioritizing markets and expanding local acquiring in key growth areas.
• Manage all commercial aspects from start to finish: negotiate pricing across processing, foreign exchange, disputes/refunds, settlement currencies, and service level agreements.
• Collaborate closely with the Checkout/Monetisation Product Lead to ensure the payments roadmap aligns with checkout conversion targets, localization, payment method strategies, authentication choices (3DS/SCA), and implementation plans.
• Set up and maintain a consistent payments performance review process (dashboards, issues, experiments, outcomes).
• Execute a structured optimization loop through issuer pattern analysis, strategies for soft/hard declines, 3DS/SCA strategy, retries, and failover processes.
• Enhance unit economics by differentiating and optimizing cost factors: scheme/interchange, PSP/acquirer fees, foreign exchange, disputes/refunds, and fraud.
• Define the foundational elements for multi-PSP integrations: routing, token strategies, observability, and reporting models.
• Implement multi-rail capabilities and establish dynamic routing with automated failover and incident management guidelines.
• Develop robust and scalable MOR operations (workflows for disputes/refunds, automation for reconciliation/settlement, fraud management).
• Formulate the foreign exchange and settlement strategy to minimize FX spreads and unnecessary conversions (including refund economics), in collaboration with Finance & Supply teams.
• Build and oversee the payments operating model and recruitment strategy.
• Over 10 years of experience in payments (acquiring/PSPs/payment methods), preferably within travel, marketplace, fintech, or similar MOR environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and scaling multi-PSP/multi-acquirer frameworks and enhancing authorization performance through practical strategies.
• Strong record of successful commercial negotiations regarding processing fees, foreign exchange, settlement currencies, disputes/refunds, and service level agreements.
• Proficient in collaborating with engineering teams on architecture: APIs, orchestration concepts, token strategies, observability, and reporting frameworks.
• Comprehensive operational knowledge of MOR payments at scale: disputes/refunds, reconciliation/settlements, fraud, and partner operations.
• Effective cross-functional leader capable of aligning Product, Engineering, Finance/Treasury, Legal/Compliance, and Customer Support towards collective objectives.
