Head of Legal – Fintech, SaaS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of all legal matters throughout the organization.

• Establish legal frameworks, playbooks, and processes to support scalable growth.

• Serve as a legal force multiplier for the leadership team by identifying risks and recommending solutions.

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex B2B commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements, NDAs, MSAs, DPAs, partnership agreements, and vendor contracts.

• Assist sales and product teams in enhancing deal flow and driving revenue growth.

• Manage legal aspects of vendor onboarding, including Know Your Business (KYB) and due diligence checks.

• Develop and implement an intellectual property strategy that encompasses trademarks, copyrights, and patent portfolios.

• Handle disputes, claims, litigation, settlement negotiations, and risk management.

• Provide counsel to the People team on employment contracts, policies, labor law, sensitive HR issues, investigations, and global mobility matters.

• Monitor, evaluate, and implement global fintech and digital asset regulations.

• Convert regulatory requirements into product specifications and features in collaboration with the Chief Product Officer and product team.

• Lead discussions with regulators, industry organizations, and policy stakeholders.

• Maintain a regulatory map for the markets served.

• Create playbooks, templates, and scalable legal processes.

• Coordinate with external legal counsel across jurisdictions to enhance performance, expertise, and cost-effectiveness.

• Report directly to the CEO and work collaboratively with Sales, Product, Engineering, Security, People, Finance, and the executive team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of legal experience.

• Must be admitted to practice law in France (Required).

• Multi-jurisdictional expertise is highly preferred.

• Extensive, hands-on regulatory knowledge in fintech, crypto, payments, or financial services.

• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex B2B and SaaS agreements.

• Strong understanding of IP/patent strategy, litigation management, and employment law in France, as well as at least one other major global hiring jurisdiction.

• Ability to translate intricate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable product and business inputs.

• In-depth familiarity with SaaS, fintech, and blockchain business models.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with the capability to execute projects from start to finish.

• Experience working in a remote-first environment across multiple time zones.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Gravitas to engage with regulators and operate at an executive level.

• Fluency in both English and French.

• Significant in-house experience in rapidly growing tech companies is strongly preferred.
