Head of Government Relations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and implement CSMC’s federal government engagement strategy across the domains of defense, nuclear, and strategic technology.

• Act as the main senior point of contact for stakeholders from the Government of Canada, including various departments, agencies, and central offices.

• Drive engagement with DND and defense-related organizations, ensuring alignment with national defense priorities and procurement pathways.

• Manage relationships and develop engagement strategies involving PMO and central agencies, with a clear understanding of decision-making processes and timelines.

• Facilitate government funding, partnership, and program engagement in areas such as nuclear, defense, space, and strategic infrastructure initiatives.

• Collaborate internally with executive leadership, legal, engineering, and program teams to maintain consistent and accurate messaging to the government.

• Monitor and evaluate policy, legislative, and strategic developments that are relevant to CSMC’s programs and provide guidance to leadership as needed.

• Represent CSMC in both formal and informal government forums, briefings, and consultations when appropriate.

• Ensure that all government engagement activities are conducted with professionalism, transparency, and compliance with relevant laws and ethical standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in engaging with the Government of Canada in senior or significant roles.

• Direct experience working with or within DND / defense-related organizations, or in closely related national security environments.

• Strong understanding of PMO and central agency processes, decision-making frameworks, and stakeholder dynamics.

• Experience in operating within nuclear, defense, or other highly regulated sectors.

• The candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter, capable of navigating complex issues to find solutions that are not straightforward.

• Must possess the resilience to overcome setbacks and continue to persevere.

• Ability to represent the organization credibly with senior public servants, political staff, and institutional stakeholders.

• Exceptional judgment, discretion, and both written and verbal communication skills.
