This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Serve as the primary leader for all consultancy engagements related to forest products within the global pulp, paper, and packaging sectors.
• Win, execute, and manage a variety of strategic and market-focused consultancy projects in the forest products industry, both independently and in collaboration with our delivery teams and partners.
• Oversee consultancy deliverables, ensuring they are robust, accurate, and well-researched while managing resources through modeling, data collection, and interview techniques.
• Position the Fastmarkets consultancy practice as a credible and leading alternative to established competitors.
• Build, lead, and nurture a high-performing consultancy team in the United States.
• Establish scalable processes, frameworks, and methodologies for effective consultancy delivery.
• Cultivate a high-performance, client-centered consulting culture.
• Lead the creation of market insights, reports, and client-facing thought leadership materials.
• Translate intricate market dynamics into actionable commercial strategies for clients.
• Own and drive consultancy sales and revenue growth across North America and international accounts.
• Identify, develop, and convert new consultancy opportunities with current PRA and external clients.
• Build a strong pipeline of project-based and retainer-based advisory engagements.
• Collaborate closely with commercial and account teams to integrate consultancy offerings into wider client relationships.
• Develop and strengthen existing customer relationships while acquiring new consultancy clients and fostering repeat/retainer business.
• Engage in forecasting and CRM reporting.
• Represent the organization at industry events, client presentations, and conferences.
• Leverage professional networks to identify opportunities and source independent contractors to support engagement delivery.
• An experienced professional with a background in forest product consultancy, demonstrating proven business development and research skills.
• Relevant experience in a top-tier consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or a specialized commodities consultancy.
• Demonstrated ability to build or expand a consulting practice or business line within the forest products sector.
• Comprehensive understanding of global pulp, paper, and packaging markets and their value chains.
• Strong history of leading client-facing advisory engagements at a senior level.
• Experience in complex solution selling and project execution/management involving single-client consultancy services.
• Fluent in English, with proficiency in a second language preferred.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel as necessary.
• An established network of clients and industry contacts is highly desirable.
• A self-starter with a 'hunter' mentality and strong personal drive, able to thrive in a multitasking environment.
• Accountable and performance-oriented.
• Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, in writing, and online.
