This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage the complete finance function and act as the CEO’s operational partner.
• Take responsibility for cash forecasting, governance, capital allocation, and decisions related to growth investments.
• Oversee relationships with banks and investors for reporting purposes.
• Evaluate options for equity, debt, and non-dilutive capital.
• Lead the financial efforts for financings, partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions.
• Provide timely monthly financial closes and ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Direct the activities of outsourced accounting and tax firms.
• Manage commission reconciliation, revenue assurance, and the recovery of commission receivables.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure alignment among Brex, payroll, billing, banking, and general ledger systems.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, payroll, and tax compliance.
• Own the three-statement operating model, annual budgeting, and scenario planning processes.
• Produce monthly financial packages and prepare materials for the Board.
• Manage LTV/CAC and payback analyses across acquisition channels and distribution segments.
• Integrate financial data across company systems and collaborate with the Data team to build reliable dashboards.
• Oversee a mix of in-house staff and outsourced contractors.
• Select and manage the finance systems stack with a focus on automation.
• Collaborate on compensation and equity modeling, hiring strategies, legal and risk issues, commercial partnerships, business development, data analytics, and company OKRs.
• Create a transaction-ready data room and assist in the development of the 2027 budget.
• Steer the company towards scalable growth and the attainment of its OKRs.
• 7+ years of experience in finance, including at least 2 years as the second-in-command (Director or VP reporting to a CFO or founder) at a venture-backed organization.
• Hands-on experience with the monthly close, general ledger, and financial statement preparation.
• Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and three-statement modeling.
• Proficient in scenario analysis, unit economics, and sensitivity modeling.
• Direct experience with LTV/CAC, payback, and channel performance measurement in a multi-channel or B2B2C environment.
• Successful track record of scaling a startup during a phase of significant revenue growth.
• Experience in managing Board reporting and working directly with venture firms.
• Skilled in managing outsourced accounting, tax, and finance vendors to achieve specific outcomes and adhere to budgets.
• Strong systems knowledge across QuickBooks Online, Brex, banking platforms, PEOs, Carta, and business intelligence tools like Mixpanel or Tableau.
• Comfortable handling HR, legal, and operational issues that extend beyond traditional finance.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Familiarity with insurance distribution or commission-based revenue models is preferred.
• Willing to engage in hands-on operational tasks and initially act as the entire finance function.
• Ability to communicate clearly and directly, translating complex information into actionable insights.
• Proficient in ClickUp and AI tools like Claude for task management and productivity.
