This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the financial lead for Nirvana Insurance Services, a commercial insurance MGA.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual FP&A processes, including analysis of budget versus actuals and narratives for board variances.
• Oversee the accounting close process and ensure compliance with ASC 606 for MGA commission income recognition.
• Reconcile commission rates for treaty years.
• Approve funding for the premium trust account and escalate operations related to fronting-carrier remittances.
• Reconcile the economics of the reinsurance program, focusing on quota-share loss ratios and commission adjustments.
• Create a unified source of truth for reinsurance economics.
• Manage agreements with subproducers and agencies, including remittance and commission balances.
• Coordinate audit deliverables for NIS with external auditors.
• Compose financial narratives and board-deck results for NIS.
• Collaborate with leads from Fleet, Business Auto, and Non-Fleet business units.
• Build and lead a small team, which includes an accountant and a finance manager.
• 8–12 years of practical experience in accounting and finance/FP&A within an operating company.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on execution.
• Ability to thrive in a high-performance, fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in diving into details, implementing solutions, and quickly iterating.
• Comfortable navigating intricate entity structures and processes.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to convey complex financial concepts to executives and operators.
• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, preferably in commission-based revenue models.
• Previous experience in fintech is preferred.
• Familiarity with insurance or MGA economics is a plus.
• Prior experience in insurance or financial services is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Must be located in the U.S.
