This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.
• We are seeking a senior engineering and product leader who will guide MindFriend through its launch and develop the platform and team that will follow.
• MindFriend serves as a mental health marketplace, connecting individuals with verified, licensed clinicians for online therapy, encompassing search, booking, payments, and live video, audio, and chat sessions all in one location.
• The platform is already developed and functioning well, supported by a competent lead developer and a dedicated team.
• We are now in search of a senior leader who will establish engineering standards, determine the right time for our launch, and expand both the platform and the team, enjoying a level of ownership typically reserved for the earliest team members.
• This position carries considerable responsibility compared to most engineering roles. We handle sensitive health data and facilitate live therapy sessions, meaning reliability and security are not merely features; they are the foundation of trust for the entire category.
• You will lead a small team along with a pool of freelancers, with a hands-on approach, rather than just overseeing.
• A minimum of 8 years in software development, including senior or lead engineering roles, with significant product responsibility rather than merely executing someone else's specifications.
• Proven experience in launching a consumer product that processes real payments and manages sensitive personal data, taking it to production and through actual users.
• Background in an environment where security and data integrity are paramount, such as health-tech, fintech, or similar sectors. You should already understand the importance of these aspects.
• Ability to conduct a security review and establish necessary controls independently, rather than delegating this task.
• Operate primarily as a hands-on leader, demonstrating leadership through action.
• Strong communication skills to work directly and transparently with a non-technical founder.
• Bonus (not mandatory): Experience as part of an early-stage or founding team, familiarity with operating in low-process environments; exposure to marketplace or telehealth sectors; handling multi-jurisdiction products; or guiding a product through SOC 2 / ISO 27001 / GDPR compliance.
• A founding-team position working closely with the founder, granting real authority and ownership over significant challenges.
