This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Spearhead the roadmap and implementation for the Geo product catering to Self-Managed customers, providing clear direction in close collaboration with the team’s Product Manager.
• Recruit and cultivate a high-performing engineering team where individuals can excel and deliver with quality and efficiency; the team is based in India, with EMEA backend/fullstack hiring to enhance timezone overlap.
• Assume responsibility for the reliability, accuracy, and performance of Geo replication, which serves as the foundational layer supporting disaster recovery for Self-Managed deployments.
• Implement bug fixes, API enhancements, and new functionalities to the shared Geo codebase, fostering relationships with the Geo Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) embedded in the Dedicated Migrations and Resilience teams to ensure timely resolution of daily commits.
• Develop and sustain runbooks, guardrails, and reviews to ensure the team operates with discipline; guarantee high-quality, prompt responses to Geo-related escalations from Support and internal partners.
• Establish, monitor, and report on delivery and operational metrics, utilizing them to drive ongoing improvements.
• Engage in the Incident Management on-call rotation to help meet availability objectives for Geo, collaborating with reliability engineers and development team members.
• Demonstrated success in building and managing large-scale distributed services, possessing the technical expertise to delve into architecture and guide the team on technical strategies.
• Proven experience in driving operational excellence, having owned services that maintain four-nines (99.99%) SLOs and understanding what is required to sustain them.
• Proficient in leveraging AI tools to enhance team productivity, with genuine insights gained from both successes and challenges.
• A background in creating and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures, including the ability to manage out when necessary.
• Ability to drive complex projects to completion without depending on a dedicated Technical Project Manager (TPM).
