Head of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead, manage, and nurture a small engineering team, which includes conducting 1:1s, facilitating career development, providing feedback, and assessing performance.

• Take ownership of delivery for both frontend and backend, overseeing the process from planning to production support.

• Manage the team's workflow and operational rhythm, including sprint planning, release planning, roadmapping, and maintaining a consistent cadence of clear priorities and accountability.

• Recruit, interview, and develop the team as we grow, while shaping the engineering culture to align with our vision.

• Collaborate with product owners, QA, dev/ops, and other stakeholders to effectively translate product goals into well-defined tasks.

• Clearly communicate status updates, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.

• Establish and maintain technical direction in partnership with the team, guiding architectural decisions and ensuring long-term maintainability.

• Actively participate in design, code reviews, and implementation where it provides the most value, and be prepared to assist the team when necessary.
