This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Directly oversees engineers, guiding their work, estimations, and removing obstacles, serving as the primary escalation point.
• Collaborates closely with the Product Manager and Tech Lead to offer guidance and coaching to squad members regarding technical contributions, product roadmap, and other pertinent areas.
• Provides constructive feedback and aids engineers in enhancing their skills.
• Ensures compliance with development methodologies.
• Standardizes processes (e.g., agile ceremonies, code quality standards) while allowing squads the autonomy needed for effective delivery.
• Monitors tasks, maintains project velocity, and takes ownership of squad-level deliverables in line with the roadmap.
• Aligns teams through regular sync-ups to maintain clarity.
• Aligns with company objectives and measurable outcomes via transparent OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).
• Proactively monitors engineer well-being, identifies burnout risks, and suggests solutions.
• Reports upwards to address systemic issues.
• Utilizes metrics to assess quality and delivery.
• Promotes retrospective analysis for ongoing improvement.
• Acknowledges milestones and individual contributions to enhance morale and engagement.
• Experience in world-class product/tech organizations, whether at scale (Google, Microsoft, Uber, Booking.com) or high-growth startups (Monzo, N26, Personio).
• Proven ability to build and lead high-caliber engineering teams.
• Experience in leading engineering teams focused on Generative AI (Prompt Engineering, Fine Tuning, RAG).
• Understanding of Technical Requirements with an Emphasis on Quality: Ability to translate product requirements into squad plans and capacity while ensuring high coding standards, maintainability, and prevention of technical debt.
• People Management: Capability to motivate, provide constructive feedback, manage performance, and resolve interpersonal conflicts within a team.
• Agile Expertise: Proficient in implementing and refining Agile processes (such as Scrum or Kanban), including task breakdown, estimation, and sprint planning.
• Collaborative and Empathetic: Possesses strong communication skills and fosters positive relationships with engineers by understanding their motivations and work styles.
• Quality Champion: Driven to produce high-quality code and instills a focus on maintainability, testing, and code standards within the team.
• Results-Driven and Process-Oriented: Capable of balancing adherence to Agile methodologies and delivery timelines while focusing on continuous improvement. Familiar with utilizing OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) to establish measurable goals.
