Head of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or in a hands-on engineering leadership role.

• Over 6 years of experience in developing production software.

• Successfully shipped at least one production feature utilizing LLM APIs, RAG, or agent workflows.

• Professional proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Python.

• Experience in building and maintaining third-party integrations in a production environment.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.

• Proven track record of delivering projects in settings with changing priorities.

• Ability to complete work from start to finish without extensive project management oversight.

• Capacity to operate independently and proactively in a fast-paced startup with a full-stack development focus.

• Experience in an early-stage tech startup (0–50 employees) where roles were fluid (Preferred).

• Practical experience with Langchain, Pydantic AI, or similar frameworks (Preferred).

• Contributions to open-source projects (Preferred).

• Experience in expanding a team beyond 3–4 members (Preferred).
