Senior Engineering Manager – Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Establish the foundation for an AI-ready context: Spearhead the engineering initiative to design and enhance an AI-ready context store encompassing structured, unstructured, vector, and graph systems. This platform underpins applications, agents, and enterprise workflows utilizing reliable data.

• Manage core platform components: Oversee the comprehensive delivery of intricate platform functionalities, including:

• - High-scale ingestion and validation frameworks

• - Contract-driven routing, storage, and serving layers

• - Multi-tenant isolation and resilience against noisy neighbors

• - Search APIs achieving sub-second P95 response times

• - Systems maintaining 99.99% availability

• Take a proactive leadership role: Immerse yourself in architecture and systems design. Navigate distributed systems trade-offs, review RFCs, resolve critical challenges, and make meaningful contributions to technical decisions. This position necessitates technical expertise beyond mere coordination.

• Foster team growth and operational excellence: Recruit and mentor high-performing engineers and managers. Establish engineering metrics, on-call protocols, SLO discipline, and incident management processes. Enhance the operational backbone supporting a platform that serves over 100K users and billions of assets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in constructing data or platform primitives at scale: You have developed or overseen foundational systems such as:

• - Data ingestion frameworks or lakehouse architectures

• - Metadata, governance, or catalog platforms

• - Multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure and tenant isolation strategies

• - Search, storage, or distributed serving layers

• - Systems for data quality, validation, or contract enforcement

• Experience in platform leadership: You have led and expanded engineering teams (including managing managers), preferably within platform, infrastructure, or data-heavy SaaS organizations.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems and reliability: You possess credibility in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and managing high-availability platforms with stringent SLOs.

• A builder mindset with a strong sense of agency: You thrive in uncertain situations, act swiftly with a sense of ownership, and construct foundational systems from the ground up. You are at ease operating in dynamic environments and influencing direction rather than merely executing predefined tasks.

• Curiosity about AI: You actively investigate AI-assisted development workflows and critically assess how agentic systems will transform developer productivity and platform design. While you don’t need to be an AI/ML expert, you should be eager to contribute to this evolution.

• A systems thinker and people-centric leader: You align technical decisions with product strategy and organizational design, placing a premium on clarity, trust, and team development.
