This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines, +1 more country.
• Offer pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to human resources, operations, and other departments regarding labor and employment legislation and risk management.
• Assess, provide counsel on, and oversee pre-litigation, litigation, regulatory matters, and associated issues.
• Supervise external legal counsel, track budgets, and maintain internal reports on employment and litigation affairs.
• Counsel senior leadership on global expansion and specific country-related risks.
• Negotiate or provide guidance on the resolution of employment disputes and claims.
• Oversee and manage the global employee hotline.
• Review audit investigation closure reports, analyze patterns, lead review meetings, and generate HR dashboards.
• Draft, evaluate, and authorize employment agreements, settlement contracts, policies, and procedures.
• Create and deliver training sessions on labor laws and issues throughout India and other regions in Asia and Africa.
• Examine and offer legal insight on disciplinary procedures.
• Lead and assist in investigations related to labor and fraud issues.
• Represent the Legal department in global projects, initiatives, expansions, and developments.
• Research and interpret laws and regulations, advising management on any changes.
• Manage, mentor, and support attorneys located in India and the Philippines.
• Carry out additional assigned tasks and special projects.
• Bar admission and good standing to practice law in India or the Philippines.
• More than 8 years of experience managing global employment law issues and litigation either in-house or with a prestigious law firm.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience leading a team, preferably across various geographical regions.
• Proficient command of English in both written and spoken forms.
• Capacity to appropriately balance business and legal factors.
• Experience with employee hotline programs is advantageous.
• Familiarity with BPO, KPO, BPM, IT/ITES industries is a plus.
• Ability to provide precise, well-reasoned, and succinct advice on short notice without excessive reliance on external counsel.
• Capability to foresee business challenges, manage multiple competing projects, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
• Self-assured in making decisions and following through with peers and management.
• Strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to ethics, adaptability, eagerness to learn and unlearn, and excellent team collaboration skills.
