📋 Description

• Oversee a team of approximately 40 designers and design directors across GRC, Trust, Platform, Self-serve, and AI, guiding the organization-wide vision and empowering each leader to excel in their roles.

• Direct the development of cutting-edge, AI-native product experiences, establishing the standards for exceptional design as Vanta's offerings become increasingly influenced by AI.

• Create an AI-native design practice: advance agentic UX patterns, revamp team workflows around AI tools, and define collaborative processes for design engineers and designers in an AI-first context.

• Provide a robust perspective on design choices, engaging thoroughly in interaction design, visual quality, and product direction, while fostering trust that facilitates scalable design decision-making.

• Establish a clear and shared benchmark for design excellence across Vanta, encompassing visual design, interaction design, and AI-enabled experiences, and develop systems to consistently uphold these standards: design system, definitions of completion, and launch review frameworks.

• Propel design as a pioneering force: proactively shape design direction, setting the tone and systems that influence both product development and organizational pace.

• Cultivate strong collaborations with Product and Engineering, implementing shared quality frameworks that are integral to the organization's shipping processes.

• Recruit and nurture the team — enhance the skills of existing leadership, maintain high standards for AI fluency and design expertise in all hires, and address capability gaps as the organization evolves.


⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of design experience, including 5+ years of leading and scaling large design teams, with director-level direct reports.

• Extensive expertise in interaction design and visual craftsmanship — enjoys delving into details, providing precise guidance, and maintaining high standards for quality across design choices.

• Significant B2B SaaS experience — knowledgeable about the challenges of designing for SMB and enterprise clients, complex workflows, multi-user products, and platform-level design issues.

• Organizational-level AI fluency: has integrated AI tools, workflows, and cultural acceptance into the design team's practices, enabling faster shipping and improved efficiency; possesses a clear perspective on the impact of AI on design roles and team structure.

• Proven history of developing quality systems: ownership of design systems, definitions of completion, launch review processes, and quality frameworks created in collaboration with Product and Engineering.

• Experienced in leading design through significant company transitions — adept at managing ambiguity, adapting the organization, and sustaining quality and momentum during rapid business changes.

• Strong cross-functional leadership — trusted by product and engineering peers, effectively navigating fast-paced and opinionated executive environments, and fostering alignment on shared objectives.

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

• Accountable for safeguarding Vanta and customer data in the operations and outcomes of your team.

• Open to leveraging AI to enhance skills and improve work quality, demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in responsibly applying AI to boost efficiency and impact.
