This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Overseeing and nurturing the design team — conducting structured one-on-one meetings, establishing objectives, providing ongoing feedback, and facilitating career growth for designers in both product and marketing sectors.
• Promoting the practical integration of AI within the team — recognizing tools, incorporating them into workflows, and ensuring their use enhances output instead of becoming isolated experiments.
• Expanding the team through hiring — outlining requirements, conducting interviews, and onboarding new team members.
• Executing usability tests and user research — utilizing current tools and processes to evaluate designs, collect evidence, and incorporate insights into prioritization and design choices.
• Taking ownership of design delivery and service level agreements (SLAs) — defining intake procedures, establishing tiered turnaround SLAs, monitoring timely delivery, and assessing stakeholder satisfaction with the design function.
• Collaborating closely with Product and Marketing to define initial work, clarify requirements, and align on desired outcomes.
• Ensuring design quality — reviewing the team's output, upholding quality standards and review processes, and maintaining consistency across product and brand without handling individual design tasks.
• Enhancing and scaling the team's existing processes, visibility, and operational methods as we grow.
• Expanding the design system — fostering adoption among designers and engineers, monitoring component reuse, identifying gaps, and ensuring the system accelerates delivery.
• Assisting marketing designers in producing more impactful and effective work by guiding briefs and direction.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design (or a similar role), with a solid foundation in design principles, despite this position not involving individual design tasks.
• At least 3 years of experience in people management — hiring, overseeing, and developing designers on a daily basis.
• Experience in scaling a design team.
• Demonstrated capability to implement and integrate AI tools or workflows that enhance team efficiency and output.
• Strong analytical abilities — experience utilizing data (usability testing, journey analytics, customer experience metrics, NPS/CSAT) to inform and prioritize design initiatives.
• Proficient in conducting usability tests and user research using provided tools, translating insights into actionable design priorities.
• Excellent English communication skills (both written and oral), with the ability to review and refine customer-facing language for clarity and context.
• Strong organizational and project management skills — experience in defining SLAs, intake processes, and monitoring design delivery across various workstreams.
• Good design judgment and a clear understanding of what constitutes high-quality design, along with the ability to govern quality through review and standards rather than individual contributions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, assess satisfaction, and build trustworthy relationships.
• Comfortable working in both product and marketing contexts.
• Experience in fintech or similar regulated environments, or a strong personal comprehension of investing and financial products.
• A structured and pragmatic approach, emphasizing delivery, clarity, and measurable results.
• Immediate impact from day one.
• Opportunities for growth.
• A transparent and open culture.
• A supportive, high-caliber team.
• Flexible working arrangements.
