Head of Credit Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and lead the creation of a comprehensive credit risk framework for all credit products, covering eligibility, underwriting, scoring models, limit setting, risk appetite, monitoring, and reporting.

• Develop the methodology and collaborate closely with Machine Learning Engineers to enhance and refine Finom’s Credit Risk Engine.

• Work in partnership with Heads of Product and Engineering to integrate risk considerations into product design and strategic initiatives.

• Design the data strategy involving decision-making tools, transactional data, multi-country bureau landscape, behavioral data, accounting software, government registry data, and first-party transactional signals pertaining to Finom’s accounts.

• Create and maintain the portfolio monitoring framework.

• Design, develop, and fine-tune early warning indicators and credit monitoring systems.

• Serve as a robust Second Line of Defence (2LoD), ensuring effective origination, monitoring, and collections processes.

• Own and continuously enhance credit risk policies, risk appetite frameworks, and reporting mechanisms.

• Ensure compliance with EMI / PS4 regulatory standards and the evolving landscape of European regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7-10+ years of experience in credit risk, with practical expertise in SME lending and credit cards along with the related credit and fraud risks.

• Strong background in automated underwriting and risk models within fintech or digital banking contexts.

• A STEM/quantitative degree in fields such as physics, data science, applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or quantitative finance is highly advantageous.

• Thorough understanding of risk governance, policies, and processes management.

• An AI-native approach — adept at utilizing AI tools and agents to boost productivity and decision-making.

• A unit-economics/product-led growth perspective, focusing on more than just control.

• A critical thinker with a strong sense of ownership, eager to challenge conventional methods.

• Highly collaborative, able to coordinate with a variety of stakeholders (Product, Legal, Finance, Engineering, ML/DS).

• Analytical, structured, and pragmatic — capable of merging detailed insights with overarching strategies.
