Head of Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a comprehensive, long-term global communications strategy that weaves together executive, corporate, policy, internal, and product narratives into a unified message for Paxos.

• Oversee media and press relations, including proactive storytelling and responsive reputation management, to restore Paxos's robust presence in key financial and crypto media outlets.

• Manage all internal and executive communications in collaboration with current internal communications and marketing teams, particularly concerning high-stakes regulated topics and significant company milestones.

• Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO and executive team, crafting narratives, offering recommendations, and presenting decision-ready options for communication strategies and execution.

• Leverage AI tools and systems to enhance efficiency in content creation, research, and evaluation.

• Direct and oversee external agencies, advisors, and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, consistent messaging across different regions and time zones.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on senior leadership roles, including significant time in technology, fintech, or financial services; experience in crypto and blockchain is preferred but not mandatory.

• Extensive experience across various communication sub-functions (executive, corporate, policy/regulatory, internal, product), with particular expertise in at least one area and a comfort level in overseeing all functions.

• Demonstrated ability to manage press and media relations effectively and to devise and implement strategies that re-establish a company's brand within key media and industry platforms.

• Proven history of closely collaborating with C-level executives as a trusted extension of their voice.

• Experience in fintech firms or banks, ideally with the last several years spent at a crypto-native or crypto-forward company (e.g., establishing brand recognition and influence in the crypto/fintech space).

• Strong existing relationships or a clear ability to cultivate connections with relevant finance and crypto journalists and outlets; capability to navigate both US and international markets.

• A confident, outgoing, and humble personality with excellent discussion and recommendation skills.
