This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of capital adequacy modeling across risk-bearing entities, which includes captives and fronting/carrier structures, utilizing AM Best’s BCAR framework.
• Develop and maintain loss reserve models, employing triangle-based methodologies.
• Convert reserve adequacy findings into capital planning outputs suitable for executive-level review.
• Construct and oversee dynamic capital planning models that stress-test surplus under adverse conditions including loss, premium growth, and reinsurance scenarios.
• Direct underwriting profitability analyses by accident year, line of business, and entity.
• Examine combined ratio drivers and trends in reserve margins.
• Assist in annual planning and reforecasting through entity-level P&L projections and capital deployment scenarios.
• Act as the subject matter expert on statutory capital requirements, RBC frameworks, and AM Best rating methodologies.
• Work collaboratively with Actuarial, Accounting, and Underwriting teams on reserve estimates, premium bookings, and capital positions.
• Create capital adequacy dashboards, reserve adequacy summaries, and scenario analyses for presentation to the CFO and Board.
• Facilitate rating agency interactions and due diligence processes, including BCAR sensitivity analysis and documentation.
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate and modernize capital and reserve reporting workflows.
• Report directly to the Director of FP&A while maintaining communication with the CFO.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in insurance capital management, ERM, actuarial finance, or statutory FP&A at a carrier, captive, reinsurer, MGA with risk-bearing exposure, or rating agency.
• Proven hands-on experience with AM Best’s BCAR model, including building, maintaining, or stress-testing BCAR analyses for P&C entities.
• Proficient understanding of loss reserving methodologies.
• Familiarity with statutory financial statements and their implications for capital adequacy.
• Advanced financial modeling capabilities and expert-level proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with Workday and Snowflake is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to CFO and C-suite audiences.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment with shifting priorities.
• Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AI and generative AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Python-based assistants.
• Experience or a mindset for workflow automation using AI and automation.
