Head of Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Leadership in People Management: Directly manage the accounting team with a strong emphasis on professional growth, ongoing performance enhancement, and fostering a trust-based culture.

• Financial Operations Oversight: Supervise the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in compliance with HGB and IFRS standards.

• Tax and Compliance Responsibilities: Hold full accountability for all German tax submissions (including VAT and Corporate Income Tax), ensuring adherence to local regulations while closely collaborating with local tax advisors.

• Risk Management Enhancement: Continuously improve internal control frameworks to mitigate financial risks and protect company assets.

• Process Automation Initiatives: Identify and implement strategic enhancements within our ERP systems and overall accounting technology to significantly boost efficiency and streamline administrative processes.

• Audit Management Duties: Oversee the complete annual statutory audit process, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities to proactively address inquiries.

⛳️ Requirements

• Educational Background: A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline. CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.

• Professional Experience: At least 6+ years of professional accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years successfully leading teams or managing leaders.

• Accounting Standards Knowledge: In-depth technical knowledge of HGB coupled with substantial professional experience in applying IFRS.

• Language Proficiency: Full professional proficiency in both German and English is required.

• Systems and Tools Expertise: Advanced skills in navigating Enterprise ERP systems and collaborative platforms such as Google Workspace.
