This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
• Oversee the technical and tactical execution of the Afghanistan Women’s National Team programme.
• Design and implement the team’s playing style, training approaches, and match strategies.
• Organize and conduct training sessions, match plans, and in-game tactical modifications.
• Foster a united, disciplined, cohesive, positive, inclusive, and high-performing team atmosphere.
• Direct squad selection while creating player profiles and individual development plans.
• Assist in player identification, recruitment, scouting, and talent pathway decisions.
• Recruit, onboard, and supervise assistant coaches and technical and performance staff when needed.
• Collaborate with medical, safeguarding, operations, logistics, analysis, and communications teams.
• Aid in player fitness, injury prevention, return-to-play, and recovery strategies.
• Integrate player welfare, safeguarding, and duty-of-care standards into team operations.
• Establish trust with players and staff through effective communication, consistency, and cultural awareness.
• Oversee pre-match preparations, opposition assessments, and post-match evaluations.
• Conduct post-camp and post-match debriefings and pinpoint future improvement areas.
• Facilitate culturally sensitive communication initiatives.
• Contribute to performance reports and updates for FIFA leadership and stakeholders.
• Travel internationally for camps, matches, scouting, and programme activities as necessary.
• A Licence is required.
• Pro Licence is preferred.
• At least five years of coaching experience in football, ideally within a club, federation, or national team context.
• Demonstrated coaching experience in women's football.
• Background with elite, semi-professional, or international-level players.
• Strong grasp of technical and tactical football principles.
• Capability to design and conduct high-quality training sessions and match preparations.
• Proven ability to cultivate a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in managing players and staff with professionalism, empathy, and authority.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, including performance, medical, analysis, operations, and safeguarding personnel.
• Strong knowledge of player development, performance feedback, and individual development planning.
• Ability to engage sensitively with diverse cultural, social, and football backgrounds.
• High integrity, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
• Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability in fast-paced or complex environments.
• Willingness to travel internationally and operate in varied contexts.
• Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Current safeguarding certification is required.
• Valid police/background check, or readiness to obtain one before appointment.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency with video analysis tools, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Desirable: experience with diaspora player groups or geographically dispersed squads.
• Desirable: experience assisting players in complex or sensitive cultural settings.
• Desirable: knowledge of Afghan football, Afghan culture, or the Afghan diaspora.
• Desirable: proficiency in additional languages such as Dari, Pashto, French, or Spanish.
