This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee intricate hardware installations, troubleshooting, and repair tasks for servers, network devices, and mainframe equipment within secure, raised-floor data center settings.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for hardware malfunctions and unique challenges that necessitate advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Design and revise raised floor layouts and cabinet configurations to enhance power, cooling, and connectivity to support business expansion.
• Manage remote data center operations via customer portals and effectively coordinate with local hands-and-feet support teams.
• Mentor and guide associate-level hardware technicians on proper installation practices, troubleshooting methods, and industry standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis on recurring hardware problems and implement preventive strategies to mitigate future issues.
• Maintain detailed documentation of hardware setups, connectivity, and problem resolutions within ticketing systems.
• Oversee third-party vendor operations and ensure compliance with SLAs for hardware maintenance.
• Check and confirm power connections, status indicators, cable installations, and labeling standards across all data center equipment.
• Facilitate smooth shift transitions by transferring project ownership, requests, and incidents through thorough verbal and written documentation.
• Travel to local data centers to deliver on-site technical support and leadership as required.
• Utilize strong knowledge of raised floor management, fiber and copper cabling, power and cooling specifications, and redundant infrastructure systems.
• Assist with mainframe (AS/400, S/390), UNIX, Windows, and contemporary cloud infrastructure installations and operations.
• Over 5 years of experience in data center hardware with a proven record of technical leadership.
• Advanced understanding of cable installation, fiber and copper technologies, and structured cabling standards.
• Significant hands-on experience with computer hardware internals, server components, and network devices.
• Proficient in mainframe installations and terminology (AS/400, S/390).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex hardware failures and conduct root cause analysis.
• Expert knowledge of raised floor management in medium to large-scale data center environments.
• Familiarity with industry best practices for data center operations, including redundant power systems, environmental controls, and security protocols.
• Strong proficiency in computer equipment specifications related to power and cooling requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and liaise with vendors.
• Capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and lead technical projects.
• Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and work in raised-floor environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is a plus.
• Certifications such as A+, Network+, Server+, or CCNA are advantageous.
