This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Participate in the design, development, testing, and integration of sophisticated hardware and firmware solutions.
• Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in VHDL, FPGA-based systems, and both digital and analog hardware development.
• Integrate hardware within a well-structured engineering environment.
• Work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Oversee technical deliverables throughout the complete product development lifecycle.
• Develop reusable HDL library components utilizing industry-standard VHDL practices.
• Design high-speed digital hardware utilizing FPGA and SOC technologies.
• Create and maintain test environments with simulation and verification tools.
• Develop and support analog and power supply design solutions.
• Conduct testing, debugging, integration, and hardware bring-up activities.
• Establish and maintain engineering documentation, including requirements, design descriptions, and test documentation.
• Assist in configuration and version control management processes.
• Collaborate with project management teams to deliver technical feedback and progress updates.
• Ensure engineering outputs meet quality and compliance standards.
• Hold a BEng Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in firmware, digital, or analog hardware design.
• Exhibit strong VHDL coding skills and FPGA design experience.
• Have experience in testing, debugging, and hardware integration.
• Be capable of producing technical design and test documentation.
• Display strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
• Familiarity with Xilinx RFSoC.
• Knowledge of fiber communication systems.
• Understanding of EMI design concepts.
• Proficient in PCB analysis using HyperLynx.
• Experience with high-speed A2D interfacing to FPGA transceivers.
• Skilled in analog and mil-spec power supply design.
• Possess fault-finding and debugging expertise.
