Hackathons – Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and take ownership of the overarching technical strategy for each hackathon.

• Assess and incorporate partner technologies and third-party tools within various technology stacks.

• Define technical guidelines, reference architectures, and integration methodologies.

• Identify potential technical risks and devise mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Mission Manager.

• Act as a technical representative for government stakeholders, industry partners, and hackathon participants.

• Convert intricate technical capabilities into persuasive narratives highlighting mission impact.

• Foster enthusiasm and credibility among senior decision-makers and participant teams.

• Enhance relationships throughout the DoW innovation ecosystem.

• Collaborate with the team, partners, and Mission Heroes during planning, execution, and post-event activities.

• Create and deliver technical programming, workshops, and content to empower participants.

• Document technical outcomes and generate reusable post-event materials.

• Travel several times a year for event execution and stakeholder engagements, primarily within the continental United States, with occasional international travel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Robust hands-on technical experience in designing and constructing software systems within complex, multi-technology environments.

• Practical experience with UDS or comparable platform abstraction and deployment frameworks.

• Direct engagement experience with government or defense stakeholders in a technical role.

• Capability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Comfort in presales or customer-facing positions that combine technical credibility with value communication.

• Understanding of software delivery and platform engineering practices for air-gapped environments.

• Knowledge of offline package management, artifact distribution, and secure update procedures.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the DoW innovation ecosystem, including programs, procurement, and mission priorities.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting or participating in hackathons, integration events, or innovation sprints in a technical leadership role.

• Preferred: Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and establish structure.

• Preferred: Proven track record of delivering technical solutions that extend beyond an event or sprint.
