This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine, +2 more states.
• Oversee and assess the East Coast Greenway (ECG) signage across the various states while updating the ECGA online trip planner (map.greenway.org).
• Strive to transition a maximum number of on-road segments to off-road paths (including designating trails as official ECG) and enhance the safety and accessibility of any remaining on-road areas for cyclists and pedestrians.
• Maintain the GIS data-reporting system, ensuring it is current, and generate reports as required (at least quarterly).
• Support our volunteer State Committees and other volunteers within the state.
• Cultivate and sustain a robust network of strategic partnerships with public agencies, elected officials, and organizations in each state to further advance Greenway initiatives.
• Keep contact information updated in the organization’s CRM system.
• Relay state-related information in collaboration with other staff for the ECGA website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
• Engage local media with assistance from the ECGA communications team.
• Provide timely information to support overall fundraising activities in the region.
• Proven ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a diverse range of individuals and personalities to foster collaborative partnerships as a team player.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic approach; demonstrates initiative and applies sound judgment.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment; manages multiple project deadlines simultaneously while delivering professional results on time and within budget.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently: understands the importance of developing work plans and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
• Takes record-keeping, documentation, and file management seriously.
• Self-starter.
• Ability to work autonomously and devise strategies for the region.
• Willingness to travel throughout the region for meetings and events.
• Proven leadership in executing greenway projects that promote transportation equity.
• Demonstrated success in engaging and motivating volunteers.
• Minimum of three years of project management and/or program experience in relevant fields such as greenway development, environmental policy, public health, or community organizing.
• Bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or a combination of relevant postgraduate degree and/or professional experience. Nonprofit experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with GIS mapping software and a willingness to learn; prior experience with GIS mapping is preferred.
