This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Offer guidance on policies and support in all areas of proposal development, administrative forms, sponsor-required certifications, representations, and compliance obligations.
• Create a suitable budget, Principal Investigator checklist, and timeline for each proposal submission.
• Collaborate closely with Principal Investigators and external partners, and engage with central administrative offices to guarantee that applications fulfill all university, school, and sponsor criteria.
• Identify and resolve challenges throughout the proposal preparation and submission process.
• Ensure that school-level approvals are included in the proposal attachments.
• Oversee application submissions, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
• Address sponsor inquiries and requests.
• Analyze and interpret complex specifications, guidelines, and regulations related to grants and contracts.
• Act as a liaison with central administrative offices and external organizations to facilitate effective award management.
• Monitor, analyze, and manage budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with sponsor terms, Uniform Guidelines, and University policies.
• Generate budget reconciliation and forecasting reports, meeting regularly with faculty to discuss their financial statuses.
• Ensure adherence to requirements such as effort reporting and financial & progress reporting.
• Collaborate with sponsors for necessary prior approval requests, extensions, budget revisions, and general inquiries.
• Assist in establishing outgoing subaward agreements and managing invoice approvals.
• Work in tandem with the central administrative office to coordinate the review of incoming contract agreements.
• Provide interim account setups and courtesy extensions as needed.
• Function as the Human Capital Management (HCM) Costing Specialist, overseeing payroll management.
• Complete timely journal entries, grant closeouts, and related tasks as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree, ideally in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in pre- and post-award management (both federal and non-federal) is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Strong skills in administrative support.

• Problem-solving capabilities with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience collaborating with faculty on complex awards and familiarity with a diverse range of sponsors.
