Go Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance backend services in Go for Rare Candy’s product aimed at collectors.

• Collaborate with mobile and frontend engineers to create and maintain GraphQL APIs.

• Design and refine relational data models.

• Write optimized SQL queries and implement database changes with safety.

• Integrate business logic, background jobs, and third-party services for collections, marketplace activities, and Instapacks.

• Create automated tests.

• Diagnose and resolve production bugs.

• Enhance reliability and performance by utilizing logs and metrics.

• Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to transform ideas into delivered experiences.

• Set up the backend locally and gain an understanding of core services and data models.

• Release backend fixes and features, ensuring they are well-defined, implemented, tested, deployed, and verified in production.

• Contribute consistently across key components of the product and take ownership of increasingly significant features.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately 5–7 years of experience in backend development.

• Experience with production systems or significant side projects that involve delivering real features.

• Proficient in Go, with an understanding of error handling, interfaces, concurrency fundamentals, and testing.

• Experience in building or maintaining APIs.

• Familiarity with GraphQL is advantageous, or a readiness to learn GraphQL from a REST background.

• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including schema design, joins, indexes, and transactions.

• Strong focus on code correctness, reliability, and maintainability.

• Proficient in using logs and debugging tools to trace issues across APIs, services, or databases.

• Comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment with evolving priorities.

• Understanding of the trading-card or collector domain, or proficiency in a similar collectible area.

• Inquisitive, detail-oriented, and willing to learn through hands-on experience.

• Submission of a resume is mandatory.

• Answering application questions regarding a Go service, debugging experience, and trading-card or collector communities is required.
