This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Oversee the annual budget planning and monitoring for intricate, value-based fee arrangements, guaranteeing real-time insight into financial performance.
• Serve as the primary financial advisor to Partners and client stakeholders regarding budget planning, expenditure optimization, and fee structures.
• Create, manage, and report on multi-jurisdictional matter budgets in collaboration with the Global Billing Coordinator, ensuring adherence to client OCGs.
• Oversee the complete project lifecycle for large, cross-border client initiatives across over 50 countries, with clear governance and reporting structures.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (internal lawyers, local counsel, ALSPs, technology) across different time zones and workstreams.
• Proactively recognize and address project risks, scheduling conflicts, and resource gaps.
• Enhance client relationship management through consistent reporting, governance meetings, and preparation of materials for partner and executive forums.
• Create communications and presentations for leadership with strong strategic analysis and insights.
• Identify, implement, and integrate AI-powered and legal technology tools to enhance efficiency, quality, and matter management.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management/pricing and legal project management within a law firm, in-house legal department, or ALSP environment.
• Extensive expertise in legal matter budgeting, AFAs, compliance with outside counsel guidelines, and/or legal financial reporting.
• Outstanding communication skills with the capacity to prepare and present to senior client and firm leadership.
• High proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, and the use of CoPilot (or similar) and AI tools for project management and workflow.
• Proven experience managing multi-jurisdictional legal budgets with significant budget responsibility.
• Experience in dedicated client service or embedded legal operations roles.
• Familiarity with cross-border regulatory, M&A, or commercial matters.
• Basic knowledge of legal AI platforms such as Harvey, Legora, or comparable tools.
