This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contribute to the formulation of technical risk engineering guidelines, bulletins, processes, and tools.
• Stay updated on current industry knowledge regarding losses and investigate new technologies and emerging risks.
• Provide assistance with intricate technical property inquiries and plan evaluations.
• Conduct research on technical issues where there is limited or no industry guidance available.
• Collaborate with the Head of Technical Services, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Risk Engineering Leadership.
• Lead training initiatives and development efforts within risk engineering, underwriting, and external clients and organizations.
• Oversee training enrollment and maintain participation records.
• Manage the libraries for training and technical guidelines.
• Work alongside the Head of Technical Services and Risk Engineering Managers to enhance systems and process efficiencies.
• Maintain and supervise the development of risk engineering tools.
• Engage in external technical and industry groups (such as NFPA, CFPS, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics or equivalent industry knowledge.
• At least fifteen (15) years of experience in highly protected risk, specialized industry, and/or boiler and machinery fields.
• Familiarity with a broad range of commercial property occupancies, including both light hazard and heavy industrial settings.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Willingness and ability to travel to client and account meetings, as well as technical conferences as requested.
• Soft Skills: Highly motivated and capable of working independently without close supervision.
• Competence in making decisions with and without established guidelines.
• Ability to collaborate closely with various Global Heads of Technical Services, Account Teams, and Underwriters.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and complete assignments within deadlines.
• Hard Skills: Professional Engineer, Certified Fire Protection Specialist Designation, or similar (preferred but not mandatory).
• Proficiency in reviewing buildings and other structures.
• Skill in interpreting risk reports, construction drawings, diagrams, and printed materials.
• Acquaintance with NFPA, FM, and other pertinent industry standards.
• Capability to perform physical activities essential for the position.
• Understanding and appreciation of safety training specific to various workplace and construction hazards.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to wear safety equipment as required for the position while mentoring during surveys.
