This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee critical aspects of Reddit's global indirect tax operations across both B2B and B2C revenue streams, which include US S&U tax, VAT/GST, DSTs, and other transactional taxes.

• Manage indirect tax registrations, compliance with returns, payments, documentation for exemptions, taxability assessments, and associated controls across various jurisdictions.

• Take ownership of and enhance indirect tax processes and systems, which encompass product and taxability mapping, exemptions, transaction testing, system integrations, data validation, and issue resolution.

• Act as the cross-functional indirect tax partner for new products and initiatives, commercial agreements, billing modifications, and geographic expansion.

• Keep track of and execute on evolving requirements for e-invoicing, digital reporting, and real-time reporting.

• Conduct indirect tax account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, closing activities, and maintain internal controls.

• Provide guidance on the indirect tax stipulations of customer and vendor contracts, invoicing requirements, and applicable exemptions.

• Handle indirect tax audits, notices, and disclosures.

• Stay updated on legislative and regulatory changes and evaluate their implications for Reddit.

• Create scalable processes, automation, metrics, and documentation aimed at enhancing data quality, minimizing manual tasks, and fortifying operational controls.

• Contribute to broader priorities and ad hoc projects of the Global Tax Team as business necessities evolve.

• Collaborate closely with the business to translate intricate tax requirements into actionable decisions, reliable systems, and scalable processes.

• Report directly to the International Tax Senior Manager.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, or a related discipline.

• Over 6 years of indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or a multinational corporate tax environment, including significant hands-on operational experience.

• Technical and operational knowledge of both US and international indirect taxes, covering B2B and B2C transactions.

• Experience in researching product and service taxability, registration and nexus responsibilities, place-of-supply regulations, invoicing prerequisites, and exemptions.

• Proficiency in supporting indirect tax compliance, accounting, audits, and controls across multiple jurisdictions.

• Capability to comprehend end-to-end transaction flows and translate tax requirements into practical processes, data needs, and system configurations.

• Strong project management skills with experience in supporting system changes or other cross-functional initiatives.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including the skill to articulate complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders clearly.

• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize competing tasks, and apply sound judgment in a dynamic and evolving environment.

• High attention to detail, a sense of ownership, curiosity, and a dedication to developing lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes.

• Experience with Vertex is highly preferred, especially in areas like rule or product mapping, transaction testing, system integrations, configuration adaptations, data validation, reconciliations, and production troubleshooting. Experience with another enterprise indirect tax system will also be taken into account.

• Familiarity with indirect tax challenges relating to technology, digital media, advertising, subscriptions, SaaS, or other high-volume transactional sectors.

• Experience in implementing e-invoicing, digital reporting, or real-time reporting standards.

• Proficiency in working with ERP, billing, procurement, and financial reporting systems and analyzing extensive transactional datasets.

• Experience with automation or data tools such as Alteryx or SQL.

• A CPA, CMI, MST, JD, LLM, or an equivalent professional qualification.

• A combination of experience in public accounting and in-house roles.
