Global Head of Security / CISO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and enhance Base’s security strategy, roadmap, governance, and operational framework.

• Guide, mentor, and develop the security team, establishing clear priorities, accountability, and pathways for professional advancement.

• Maintain effective existing capabilities while addressing significant security and compliance deficiencies.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to bolster product, API, cloud, identity, software supply chain, and AI security.

• Provide strategic oversight for the established Security Operations Center (SOC), major incident responses, and cyber-resilience initiatives.

• Sustain and continually enhance Base’s ISO/IEC 27001-certified Information Security Management System (ISMS).

• Spearhead the gradual progression toward SOC 2 readiness and certification.

• Ensure that security controls adapt to evolving regulatory, contractual, and customer demands.

• Facilitate the secure application of AI within products, software development, code assessments, internal automation, and security operations.

• Convert security risks into clear business decisions, priorities, and investment requirements.

• Represent Base in executive discussions, strategic customer evaluations, audits, and due diligence activities.

• Deliver a targeted security strategy that aligns with Base’s business objectives.

• Build a robust, engaged, and well-structured security team.

• Enhance collaboration between Security, Product, and Engineering teams.

• Mitigate significant security and compliance gaps.

• Enable the secure and responsible integration of AI and internal automation.

• Provide transparent executive insights into security risks and program effectiveness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior security leadership experience in a SaaS, e-commerce, marketplace, or cloud-native technology environment.

• Demonstrated capability in taking ownership of and advancing an established security program.

• Experience in leading and mentoring security professionals.

• Comprehensive understanding of product security, cloud technologies, Identity and Access Management (IAM), secure software development, security operations, and incident response.

• Broad, vendor-neutral experience with modern security technologies.

• Ability to evaluate, integrate, simplify, and advance the security framework as the organization grows.

• Practical knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001, risk management, customer assurance, and SOC 2 preparedness.

• Familiarity with AI security, AI-assisted development, and security automation.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to collaborate effectively with executives, engineers, customers, and auditors.

• Proficiency in both Polish and English.
