This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Formulate and execute semiconductor commodity strategies to guarantee the use of top-notch semiconductor products and suppliers, emphasizing Technology, Quality, Supply, and Cost.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure commodity strategies are aligned with Ciena’s overarching goals and objectives.
• Analyze market trends for semiconductor components, including technological advancements, product pricing, supply conditions, and competitive supplier environments, to develop strategies that capitalize on market dynamics.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to introduce new products and suppliers that are in line with commodity strategies and foster innovation.
• Lead negotiations to enhance the total cost of ownership for semiconductor components throughout their product lifecycle.
• Address critical supply shortages by actively partnering with suppliers and EMS partners to guarantee supply continuity.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to semiconductor components, ensuring availability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Establish and nurture robust relationships with suppliers and their management teams to secure top-tier support for Ciena.
• Conduct regular business reviews with suppliers to ensure that supplier actions are aligned with Ciena’s objectives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business.
• Over 5 years of experience in semiconductor procurement.
• Comprehensive knowledge of various semiconductor technologies, industry trends, and suppliers.
• Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, including R&D, Product Line Management, Operations, and Quality on commodity initiatives.
• Strong negotiation capabilities with the aptitude to influence and cultivate relationships both internally and externally.
• Proficiency in defining and executing supply strategies to mitigate risks and ensure continuity of supply for semiconductor components.
• Experience in resolving critical supply shortages and optimizing supplier relationships.
• Willingness to travel as necessary to support supplier relationships and business requirements.
