
Global Category Manager – Contracts and Purchased Finished Goods

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Develop and execute global category strategies, which encompass needs assessment, project planning, data collection from both internal and external sources, strategic analysis, opportunity identification, procurement strategy formulation, and implementation planning.
• Assemble, lead, and guide cross-functional teams as needed to carry out the procurement process and plans; facilitate supplier selection and decision-making; oversee contract development, negotiation, and execution processes, including complex commercial negotiations related to pricing, service levels, risk allocation, liability, and performance incentives.
• Oversee strategy alignment, ensure long-term supply security, manage supplier performance, and establish a preferred supplier base.
• Guarantee optimal supplier pricing, responsiveness, quality, and adherence to contracts.
• Manage the complete contract lifecycle, covering negotiation, execution, amendments, renewals, compliance monitoring, and terminations.
• Collaborate with Legal to structure and negotiate contract terms while leading the resolution of disputes, claims, and performance issues.
• Create and uphold master agreements, long-term supply agreements, and SOW frameworks that facilitate scalability, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
• Formulate effective risk management strategies that anticipate and address a wide array of commercial, supply, and contractual risk scenarios to ensure the fulfillment of ICU Medical’s requirements.
• Stay informed about industry technology trends, sourcing alternatives, and competitive pricing.
• Assess and report on commodity performance objectives, monitor supplier performance, conduct regular business reviews, and instigate corrective actions as needed, including contract-based KPIs, SLAs, and scorecards.
• Review, negotiate, and maintain Supplier Agreements and relevant documentation.
• Conduct price benchmarking to ensure the company receives the most cost-effective, high-quality products.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the sourcing process.
• Collaborate with other functions and affected stakeholders to ensure timely implementation and adherence to established sourcing strategies.
• Undertake special assignments as they arise.
• A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) is required; a Master of Science or MBA is preferred.
• 8-10 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
• Experience in a global or multi-site manufacturing environment is required.
• Commercial experience in indirect sourcing and/or sourcing of outsourced services is essential.
• Demonstrated experience in an outsourcing environment is preferred.
• Proven track record of leading contract negotiations and managing complex supplier agreements.
• Experience in negotiating commercial contract terms and collaborating with Legal business partners.
• Background in negotiating and managing high-value contracts is necessary.
• Experience in managing large spend portfolios on a global scale.
• Ability to manage multi-functional, cross-site teams is essential.
• Demonstrated capability to coordinate cross-site activities, benchmarking, periodic meetings, and training as required.
• Proven ability to effectively implement change in a center-led management model.
• Familiarity with large ERP systems; experience with Oracle is preferred.
• Project management experience is necessary.
• Travel is required less than 5% of the time.
